Steeped in mystery surrounding a culture that left long ago nearly 1,000 years ago, Chaco Culture National Historic Park will easily mesmerize anyone that spends even just a few minutes admiring its ruins. Commonly known as Chaco Canyon, the area is home to some of the most incredible and intact ruins in the entire United States. The alignment with the night sky and the architecture from the time amazes both casual visitors as well as archaeologists to the site. Many different hikes are established to bring visitors to some of the more remote communities, each just as fascinating as anything in the park. Nearby also lies Fajada Butte, a huge landmark that also has its own ruins of extraordinary astronomical precision on its summit that has since been closed to visitors.
